2YO Seeking To Climb To Top Of Tree

Thursday, 9th February 2017

Godolphin's impressive debut winner Marsupial will press his claims for Victoria's richest juvenile event when he contests Saturday's Gr3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) for colts and geldings at Caulfield. A Darley homebred by Street Cry out of the stakes winning Exceed And Excel mare Koala Bear, the aptly named Marsupial posted a stylish 2.3 length win over 1200 metres at Canterbury last month to put himself in the picture for the $1.5 million Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on 25 February. "He's had a look at Caulfield this week and seemed to handle it well enough," trainer John O'Shea said. "The draw gives him the chance to take a good position. I'll make a decision on where he goes next after Saturday." Marsupial will be ridden by Ben Melham and has drawn barrier five in the field of 14. Click here for all the form on CF orr Stakes & Blue Diamond Prelude day.
