International Campaign For Jameka?

Thursday, 9th February 2017

Ciaron Maher has revealed that he is contemplating an international campaign for Caulfield Cup winner Jameka later in the year, reports Racing.com. The star mare, who will make her seasonal reappearance in Saturday's Gr1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, is being aimed at the Gr1 Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on 11 March, but Maher said an overseas sojourn, which includes competing at Royal Ascot, was also on the agenda. "We've looked into racing at Royal Ascot, trying to have her right for the King George [Gr1 King George And Queen Elizabeth Stakes]," Maher said. "There's a vast range of races over there [Europe] in her best-distance range. The Arc's [Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe] at Chantilly, but whether she's up to that or not, we'll have to see how her form is, and whether she even goes or not." He added: "She may even stay here for the spring, and maybe the Vase in Hong Kong, so there's plenty of options for her."
