Positive Vibes With Hartnell

Thursday, 9th February 2017

Trainer John O'Shea says he is simply looking forward to a "positive" experience when Hartnell renews his rivalry with Australia's champion racehorse Winx in the Gr2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday. Hartnell is yet to beat Winx in their four encounters to date, with their last meeting resulting in Hartnell finishing second to the mighty mare when she scored a record-breaking 8 length win in the Cox Plate in October. "Hartnell's come back in great shape, I couldn't be happier with his attitude and his fitness level," O'Shea told Godolphin.com. "She's a champion, we know that, but we're looking forward to a good positive day. These are the right races for him, so you go out there and race." Hartnell hasn't started since finishing third over the 3200m of the Melbourne Cup, but he will be kept to a maximum distance of 2000m this preparation with the $4 million Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick on 8 April his primary target.
