Snowden Yard Unveils Smart Debut Winner

Thursday, 9th February 2017

Valuable colt Dracarys overcame testing conditions to open his career with an impressive win in the Hyland Race Colours Plate (1000m) at Warwick Farm yesterday. In driving rain and on a heavy 10-rated track, the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained colt proved a class above his rivals when surging clear over the final 100 metres to score by 1.3 lengths over fellow debutants Brook Magic and Kennedy. "I think his class prevailed in the end," co-trainer Paul Snowden told Sky Racing. "He's always been a work-in-progress this guy so we've just taken him along slowly. He'll gain a lot of experience from that." By Snitzel out of the dual stakes winner Nocturnelle (Elusive Quality), Dracarys was a $1 million purchase by James Harron Bloodstock at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Arrowfield Stud. The world renowned Hunter Valley nursery will offer a three-quarter sister to Dracarys by Redoute's Choice (Lot 262) at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling in April.
