Fuhryk Wins Gr3 Kevin Hayes Stakes

Monday, 13th February 2017

At Caulfield racecourse in Melbourne, Widden Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Star Witness (Starcraft-Leone Chiara, by Lion Hunter) added a Group success when 3YO filly Fuhryk (Star Witness-Fuhrnatic, by Langfuhr) finished her race off strongly to score by 2 length for trainers David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig in the $150,000 Gr3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Oregon's Day (Domesday-Oregon Seal, by Oregon) & Savanna Amour (Love Conquers All-Savanna la Mar, by Stravinsky). This was the first stakes victory for the exciting Fuhryk who advanced her record to 4 wins from 6 starts and $232,200 earnings. From the dual stakes-placed mare Fuhrnatic, Fuhryk was a $60,000 purchase by Lindsay Park Bloodstock at the 2015 Inglis Premier Sale from the draft of Rosemont Stud. Fuhryk will now head to the Gr2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 25 February before a possible tilt at the Gr1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington the following week. "I believe that when she gets to 1400 metres and a mile she can be an elite filly," co-trainer David Hayes told Racing.com.
