Waterhouse Hoping History Repeats With More Joyous Relation

Wednesday, 15th February 2017

History Repeats, a three-quarter sister to champion Sydney mare More Joyous, is set to make her debut in the Glen Miller 3YO Handicap (1200m) at Royal Randwick today. Trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott and bred by John Singleton's Strawberry Hill Stud, History Repeats is by the same sire as More Joyous, namely Vinery stallion More Than Ready, out of the 4-time Gr1 winner Tuesday Joy (Carnegie-Joie Denise, by Danehill), a half-sister to Australian Oaks winner and More Joyous's dam Sunday Joy (Sunday Silence-Joie Denise, Danehill). This makes History Repeats a direct descendant of VRC & Queensland Oaks winner and celebrated blue hen Denise's Joy. This is one of the most sought-after families in the Australian Stud Book which also includes Thorn Park, Light Up The World, Bentley Biscuit, Joie De Grise, Euphoria, and Gr1 Vinery Stud Stakes winner Fenway. Also prepared by Gai Waterhouse, More Joyous won 8 races at Gr1 level including the prestigious Doncaster Handicap (1600m) and two renewals of the Queen of the Turf Stakes (1500m). History Repeats, who is coming off a 1050m barrier trial win on 27 January, will be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy.
