Unbeaten QLD Filly To Miss Silver Slipper

Thursday, 16th February 2017

Undefeated Central Queensland filly Paradis Imperial (Instinction-Hennessy Beau, by Hennessy) will bypass the Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday in favour of a possible Eagle Farm start, reports Racing Queensland Webnews. Rockhampton trainer Tony McMahon gave serious thought about sending Paradis Imperial south for the juvenile feature which carries first prize money of $143,750. Instead, McMahon accepted with Pardis Imperial in the QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1000m) at Eagle Farm after studying the Silver Slipper nominations. "She was genuinely heading down there until I looked at the nominations," McMahon said. "It's a strong race and I don't think she's up to that class. You should never say never in racing but you've got to be realistic." He added: "If she was to run third in the Slipper she'd pick up $23,000 and she can get more than that in QTIS races up here." Paradis Imperial, a winner of all five of her starts to date, is by triple stakes winning stallion Instinction (Exceed and Excel) who stands at Sun Stud in Queensland.
