US Import Destined For Better Things

Thursday, 16th February 2017

Archie Alexander is predicting that imported galloper Fastnet Latina can make an impact at Group level over the autumn after recording yet another win at Sandown in Melbourne yesterday. Formerly campaigned at Gulfstream Park in the US, the 4YO Irish-bred entire was purchased by OTI Racing who brought him to Australia where he has now won both his starts in impressive fashion. "I thought he was very game. He has a serious turn of foot this horse; the owners are going to have some fun with him," Alexander told Racing.com. "Jordan [jockey Jordan Childs] after his first start said he was a Group horse, so hopefully he is. We will just take it easy and go through the Saturday ranks of handicaps and things but there could be a Group race in him somewhere." Fastnet Latina is by former champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock from the dual Gr3 winner La Chunga (More Than Ready).
