Kiwi Mare a Serious Winning Chance

Friday, 17th February 2017

Talented 4YO mare Serious Satire looks a winning chance for trainer Stephen Marsh at Ellerslie on Saturday, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Cambridge conditioner believes give in the ground will be a positive for the mare as she drops back from Gr1 company to the Benchmark 75 Macular Degeneration NZ 1600. "I really liked her run in the Thorndon Mile for fifth and she has trained on well since," Marsh said. "She's drawn out a bit and does have to carry a fair bit of weight [58.5 kilos], but I think she will be right in the finish." Serious Satire has won three of her 10 career starts, including the Gr3 Hawke's Bay Breeders' Gold Trail Stakes as a three-year-old. By Vinery shuttler More Than Ready, Serious Satire is out of the Gr2 winning Zabeel mare Zarzuela (Zabeel) and hails from the family of Gr1 winners Star Satire, Ray's Hope, Silver Nymph, Silver Wraith, and Gr2 winner Satin Shoes.
