Kenedna Wins Gr3 Vanity Stakes

Monday, 20th February 2017

At Flemington in Melbourne, Arrowfield Stud's multiple stakes-winning stallion Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice-Single's Bar, by Rory's Jester) added a Group success when 3YO bay filly Kenedna (Not a Single Doubt-Miss Dodwell, by Falbrav) scored by 1.25 lengths for trainer Darren Weir in the $150,000 Gr3 Vanity Stakes (1400m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Extra Olives (Redoute's Choice-Line Honours, by Hussonet) & Harlow Gold (Tavistock-Belongs in Lights, by Belong to Me). This was the first stakes victory for Kenedna who improved her record to 3 wins and 3 placings from 9 starts for $138,210 earnings. Trainer Darren Weir nominated the Gr1 Australasian Oaks in Adelaide in May as a suitable target for Kenedna. "I think she needs a mile and maybe further because she is a very relaxed filly,'' Weir told Racing.com. Purchased for $80,000 by Darren Weir Racing at the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Arrowfield Stud, Kenedna is a three-quarter sister to Gr2 QTC Cup winner and now Aquis Farm stallion Spill The Beans (Snitzel) and hails from the family of champion filly Bounding Away - winner of six Gr1 races including the Golden Slipper and Australian Oaks - and Gr1 Metropolitan Handicap winner Glastonbury.
