Rapper Dragon Win Listed Hong Kong Classic Cup
At Sha Tin racecourse in Hong Kong, multiple US Gr1-winning sprinter & Darley shuttler Street Boss (Street Cry-Blushing Ogygian, by Ogygian) added a local Hong Kong stakes success when 4YO Australian-bred gelding Rapper Dragon (Street Boss-Swing Dance, by Danehill Dancer) sprinted clear for a dominant 1.5 length win for trainer John Moore in the Listed Hong Kong Classic Cup (1800m), over 4YO German-bred gelding Pakistan Star (Shamardal-Nina Celebre, by Peintre Celebre) & fellow 4YO Australian-bred gelding Seasons Bloom (Captain Sonador-Pyramisa's Lass, by Not a Single Doubt). Rapper Dragon, who is now favourite for the Gr1 Hong Kong Derby in March, improved his record to 7 wins (including the HK Gr1 Hong Kong Classic Mile) from 15 starts for $2,223, 650 earnings. Rapper Dragon's win in the second leg of the 4YO series means he is now poised to become the first horse in history to claim the 4YO triple crown. “He’s one of the elite brigade," trainer John Moore told the South China Morning Post. "Joao said he’s one of the best he’s ridden but he stopped short of saying the best, so I guess he’s thinking about Able Friend next week. We had no doubts about him running the extra 200m today and I’ll be going to Derby just as confident about the 2,000m."
