Sacred Rhythm Wins Listed Bob Sharrock Memorial Oaks Prelude
At Pukekura in New Zealand, Rich Hill Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Pentire (Be My Guest-Gull Nook, by Mill Reef) added a black-type success when 3YO filly Sacred Rhythm (Pentire-Bluegrass, by Fasliyev) scored by 0.75 length for trainer Tony Pike in the $50,000 Listed Bob Sharrock Memorial Oaks Prelude (1800m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Date Night (Savabeel-Dating, by O'Reilly) & Storytime (Savabeel-Authoress, by Fuji Kiseki). Purchased for $85,000 by Raffles Racing and Mulcaster Bloodstock at the 2015 NZB Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Rich Hill Stud, Sacred Rhythm improved her record to 2 wins from 3 starts for NZ$38,750 earnings. Trainer Tony Pike told NZ Racing Desk that the Gr1 New Zealand Oaks was still on the agenda for Sacred Rhythm, as was a trip across the Tasman for the Queensland winter carnival later in the year. "It was only her third start and last time on Karaka Million night her saddle slipped and she got back and in all sorts of trouble," Pike said. "She kept closing today and she's got plenty of staying potential – whether she gets to the Oaks or not I'm not sure. She's not nominated, but More Than Sacred was a late nomination and she won it for us." He added: "If not, then Brisbane is an option." Sacred Rhythm hails from the family of Queensland Oaks winner Zasu, Gr1-winning stallion Marceau, and multiple Group-winning stallion Runyon.
