Limestone Out of Diamond

Tuesday, 21st February 2017

Darren Weir says the connections of smart Melbourne filly Limestone have decided against paying the $55,000 late entry fee to run in Saturday's $1.5 million Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, reports Racing.com. A homebred for David Moodie's Hesket Bloodstock, Limestone (Helmet-Limerock, by Charge Forward) was a winner of the Gr3 Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) for fillies before finishing a close-up second to current Blue Diamond favourite Catchy in the Gr2 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m). However, Weir indicated Limestone's autumn campaign may not be over, with the Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on the second day of The Championships (8 April) under consideration. "If they are happy with her, then she'll come back into work then we'll go to Sydney for the two-year-old fillies race," Weir said.
