Improvement To Come With Jukebox
Trainer Ciaron Maher believes unbeaten colt Jukebox (Snitzel-Jestatune, by Rory's Jester) still has significant scope for improvement leading into Saturday's $1.5 million Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield. The son of Snitzel has been unextended in posting comfortable wins in his only two starts to date, and Maher is confident there is more to come. "He hasn't really been under pressure yet. Craig [jockey Craig Williams] thought he had more to give in both starts and he hasn't really raced the A-graders but he's done it in very good style and I wouldn't swap him leading into the race," Maher told Racing.com. "He's had two soft runs and in terms of preparing a horse for its target race then he's had two perfect lead-up runs and his preparation couldn't have gone any better." Maher was also delighted when Jukebox's connections came up with gate four at yesterday's barrier draw. "That's a great barrier for him," Maher said. "It's sort of similar to his two runs where he has sat right in the box seat so hopefully he can land there again."
