Limbo Soul Enters Slipper Picture

Thursday, 23rd February 2017

Limbo Soul has emerged as a dark horse for next month's Golden Slipper after posting a brilliant debut victory at Rosehill Gardens yesterday. Heavily supported from 20-1 to start favourite at $3, the 2YO daughter of high-profile sire I Am Invincible showing dazzling speed out of the gates to take up the lead before letting down with a sharp turn of foot in the straight to score by 3.3 lengths over fellow fillies Memento and She's On Que in the So You Think @ Coolmore Handicap over 1100 metres. Justin Webb, racing manager for trainer Tim Martin, said Limbo Soul had always shown the stable well above average ability. "Impressive filly," Webb said. "Tim has always had a nice opinion of her and its good to see her race like that today, particularly this time of year." He added: "It did look a good race. A bit of depth in there. She is a quality filly and Tim has some high hopes this autumn for her." TAB immediately reacted by slashing Limbo Soul's Golden Slipper price from $101 to $26. From the Fastnet Rock mare Limbo Down, Limbo Soul was a $90,000 purchase at the 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Scone-based nursery Bhima Thoroughbreds.
