McEvoy Fancies Filly for Diamond
Adelaide trainer Tony McEvoy has nominated well-bred filly Roomooz as the pick of his three runners in Saturday's $1.5 million Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield. Roomooz, by Fastnet Rock out of Gr3 Silver Shadow Stakes winner and multiple Gr1 placed filly Pane In The Glass (Testa Rossa), will be joined by stable-mates Aspect and Azazel in Victoria's richest juvenile race. The Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum-owned Roomooz arguably boasts the best form line of the trio with her most recent outing resulting in a fast-finishing fourth behind Diamond favourite Catchy in the Gr2 Blue Diamond Prelude for fillies (1100m) on 11 February. Roomooz has drawn barrier 5, Aspect 14, while Azazel will jump from barrier 1. "I'd probably lean to the filly. She's one of the least experienced and has quite a bit of upside I think," McEvoy told Racing.com. "From [barrier] five, I'd like to see her in the first half. She's certainly got enough pace to be in the first half. That's a good spot to be in a Diamond. I don't think you need to be right up on the tempo." The Gr1 Blue Diamond Stales will be run as race 7 at 4:10pm (AEDT).
