Kawi in Fine Fettle For Otaki Gr1

Friday, 24th February 2017

Multiple Gr1 winner Kawi (Savabeel-Magic Time, by Volksraad) hasn't missed a beat since a slow start brought about his downfall when resuming in the Gr1 NRM Sprint (1400m) at Te Rapa on 11 February, reports NZ Racing Desk. However, trainer Allan Sharrock says the 6YOs track work since has been first class and he is expecting a bold showing in tomorrow's Gr1 Haunui Farm WFA Classic (1600m) at Otaki. "We are very happy with him," Sharrock said. "His work on Tuesday morning was probably the best I've seen from him this prep and he looks to have improved physically." Kawi will be chasing his sixth victory at Gr1 level following previous top flight wins in the Makfi Challenge Stakes (twice), Zabeel Classic, Thorndon Mile, and Windsor Park Plate.
