Magnatti Out to Keep Perfect Record

Friday, 24th February 2017

Unbeaten filly Magnatti will out to vindicate the opinion of her trainer Wez Hunter when she makes her black-type debut in the Gr3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley tonight. A winner of all three of her starts to date, Hunter says the 3YO daughter of Magnus is potentially the best horse he has ever been associated with, and that includes dual Gr1-winning sprinter Malaguerra. "She is definitely the best filly I've ever trained, possibly the best horse I've ever trained and that includes Malaguerra and Smokin' Joey," Hunter told Racing.com. "Her work on Saturday morning was the best I've seen her go, she worked with a mate running home her last 400 metres in 24.9 (seconds) and she did it easily." Hunter added: "All going well she'll have a month between runs and then head to Sydney for the Group Three PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) on the first day of The Championships." A $130,000 purchase by Hunter at the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Eliza Park International, Magnatti is out of the dual stakes-placed mare Flokkati (Fastnet Rock) and hails from the family of Gr2 Karrakatta Plate winner Born Priceless, Gr2 winner The Heavyweight, and stakes winners Born Western and Zedrich.
