Farson Wins Gr2 Autumn Classic

Monday, 27th February 2017

At Caulfield racecourse in Melbourne, Arrowfield Stud's high profile Gr1-winning stallion Snitzel (Redoute's Choice-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets) added a Group success when 3YO gelding Farson (Snitzel (AUS) 2002 out of Clear View (AUS) 2000, by Gallo di Ferro) left his rivals languishing when scoring a front-running 1.75 length win for trainers Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott in the $200,000 Gr2 Autumn Classic (1800m) for 3YOs, over 3YO geldings Cliff Hanger (Canford Cliffs-Crevasse, by Snowland) & Captain Rhett (Helenus-Starlet O'Hara, by Galileo). This was the first stakes victory for the progressive Farson who improved his record to 4 wins from 6 starts for $2001,005 earnings. From the Adelaide stakes-winning mare Clear View, Farson was purchased by Gai Waterhouse Racing for $180,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Turangga Farm. Farson is likely to make his next appearance in the Gr2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) at Moonee Valley on 17 March, before heading to Sydney for the feature 3YO middle-distance events during The Championships.
