McCreery Wins Gr3 Liverpool City Cup

Monday, 27th February 2017

At Royal Randwick in Sydney, 6YO UK-bred gelding McCreery (Big Bad Bob-Dolma, by Marchand de Sable) showed he was in for a lucrative autumn campaign when resuming with a brilliant 1 length win for trainer Chris Waller in the $150,000 Gr3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) for 3YO+, over 6YO Irish-bred entire and stable-mate Arod (Teofilo-My Personal Space, by Rahy) & 5YO gelding Testashadow (Testa Rossa-Moonlight Shadow, by Flying Spur). McCreery, who was a £200,000 purchase by Chris Waller Racing at the 2015 Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale, improved his record to 6 wins (including the Gr3 Kingston Town Stakes & Listed Rowley Mile) and 5 placings (including the Gr1 VRC Cantala Stakes) from 14 starts for $500,481 earnings. "He's a good tough, little horse. He's the smallest horse in the stable but he's got close to the biggest heart," trainer Chris Waller told Sky Racing. McCreery is being aimed at the $3 million Gr1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick on 1 April.
