Bold Showing Expected From Hauraki

Friday, 3rd March 2017

Godolphin trainer John O'Shea is tipping a cheeky first-up performance from Hauraki (Reset-Youthful Presence, by Dehere) in tomorrow's Gr1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Randwick, reports racingnsw.com.au. "He won first up last time at seven furlongs," O'Shea said. "1300 metres is a little short of his best, but he's effective in the ground." O'Shea added: "He's going to take a couple of runs to hit his straps. Going into the Doncaster, third-up, that's when he'll really peak." Hauraki, who finally delivered on the immense promise he showed as a younger horse by winning the Gr1 Epsom Handicap as a 5YO in the spring, will be having his first competitive race start since finishing runner-up to Awesome Rock in the Gr1 Emirates Stakes on 5 November.
