Turn Me Loose Retired

Monday, 6th March 2017

Star Kiwi galloper Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj-Indomitable, by Danehill) has been retired after suffering an injury in the Gr1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield on 25 February, reports racing.com. “He was a wonderful horse and it’s a shame to see him go out like this,” said Murray Baker, who trained the 4YO in partnership with Andrew Forsman. “He’s the best performed son of Iffraaj in the Southern Hemisphere with his three Group Ones wins and a pair of Group Two victories as well. At his peak he was such a powerful galloper and a real competitor in everything he did.” Baker said he hoped Turn Me Loose could now embark on a career at stud. Crowned New Zealand’s champion sprinter-miler last year, Turn Me Loose retires with 7 wins and 5 placings from 20 starts for $1,594,884 in prize money. Turn Me Loose’s Gr1 victories came in the 2014 New Zealand 2000 Guineas, 2015 Emirates Stakes, and 2016 Futurity Stakes.
