Dixie Blossom Well Ahead of Gr1

Wednesday, 8th March 2017

Former jockey turned trainer Ron Quinton says Dixie Blossoms (Street Sense-Whistle Dixie, by Star Way) is in good order ahead of Saturday’s Gr1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill. The 4YO, who will be seeking her maiden Gr1 success, as last seen revelling in the heavy conditions and scoring a brilliant 6.5 win in the Gr2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Randwick. “I’m very happy with her, but the Coolmore is a much tougher race, of course. It won’t be easy to win, that’s for sure,” Quinton told ANZ Bloodstock News. “She is fit and well and didn’t need toughening up. People see a horse going to the post without the whip and they think they have three lengths up their sleeve, but they haven’t.” He added: “These genuine racehorses are giving their all, don’t worry about that.” Dixie Blossoms’ only other start at Gr1 level resulted in a 4th place finish in the Myer Classic in the spring.
