Freedman Hoping Rain Holds for Import
Trainer Lee Freedman is hoping that Sydney's wet weather hangs around until at least Saturday when Our Ivanhowe (Soldier Hollow-Indigo Girl, by Sternkönig) resumes in the Gr3 Sky High Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill. The German-bred stayer, who will be having his first start since finishing towards the tail of the field in the Melbourne Cup, pleased Freedman when trialling on a suitable heavy track at Randwick yesterday. "There is everything to say in his trial this morning and on his work prior to this, he's going to race right up to his best given those conditions," the Hall of Fame trainer told racing.com. "We've had no niggles this preparation because we've just avoided firm tracks with him…He's likely to get soft ground on Saturday which is a massive difference for the horse." He added: "If he runs well on Saturday he'll be aimed at the BMW two weeks later if the ground suits." Our Ivanhowe will be seeking his second win since arriving in Australia after claiming last year's Gr1 Doomben Cup (2000m) in Brisbane.
