BMW Next for Tavago

Monday, 13th March 2017

Cranbourne trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young are now looking forward to a prosperous autumn campaign with Tavago following his return to the winner’s circle in Saturday’s Gr3 Sky High Stakes at Rosehill, reports NZ Racing Desk. Last year’s Australian Derby winner bounced back from a debilitating illness which derailed his spring campaign with a convincing three and a quarter length win over another former Kiwi in the Chris Waller-trained Antonio Giuseppe. The nature of Saturday's win though was enough to convince Busuttin that Tavago is back to his best and to begin tentatively looking towards a spring campaign in Melbourne. Before that though, there is the small matter of the $1.5 million Gr1 BMW and $2 million Gr1 Sydney Cup to get through. "We're on the top of our game now and if we continue to improve and get conditions to suit in the BMW then I wouldn't be swapping him for any other horse in the field,” Busuttin said. The Gr1 The BMW (2400m) will be run at Rosehill Gardens on 25 March.
