Dawn Wall Wins Gr3 Arrowfield Kembla Grange Classic

Monday, 13th March 2017

At Kembla Grange in NSW, Coolmore's former Gr1-winning Champion Australian Sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) added a Group success when 3YO filly Dawn Wall (Fastnet Rock-Mennetou, by Entrepreneur) scored by 0.4 length for trainer Chris Waller in the Gr3 Arrowfield Kembla Grange Classic (1600m) for 3YO’s, over Lubiton (Snitzel-Rosa Stellata, by Zabeel) & Faraway Town (Not a Single Doubt-London Calling, by Dehere). The finish amounted to a showdown between progeny of Australia’s current top two sires. Dawn Wall was an expensive $1.3 million dollar purchase from the 2015 Coolmore Stud Easter draft and now takes her record to 3 wins from 4 starts while also capturing her debut stakes success with earnings of $183,050. Raced by a high-profile group of owners including the Niarchos family's Flaxman Stables and Coolmore Stud, the beautifully bred Dawn Wall is by Fastnet Rock out of the unraced Entrepreneur mare Mennetou (IRE), a half-sister to Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner and sire Carnegie from fellow Arc winner Detroit (Riverman-Derna, by Sunny Boy). This is the family of Cambridge Stud's deceased multiple champion sire Zabeel, Australian Guineas winner Baryshnikov, and Gr1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Durtal.
