Monday, 13th March 2017

At Flemington in Victoria, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit-Cannarelle, by Canny Lad) celebrated a Group success when 3YO filly I Am A Star (I Am Invincible-Star Band, by Dixieland Band) scored by 0.1 length for trainer Shane Nichols in the $202,000 Gr2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) for 3YO fillies over brave WA filly Ellicazoom (Testa Rossa-Ellicorsam, by Fimiston) & Kenedna (Not a Single Doubt-Miss Dodwell, by Falbrav). The well-bred I Am A Star, who became the first filly in history to win the Gr1 Myer Classic in 2016, advanced her record to 5 wins (including the Gr3 Quezette Stakes, Gr3 SAJC National Stakes & Gr1 Myer Classic) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 MRC Thousand Guineas, Gr2 Moonee Valley Fillies’ Classic & Gr2 Rubiton Stakes) from 12 starts for $804,450 earnings. Originally purchased for NZ$12,000 at the 2014 NZ Bloodstock Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale, I Am A Star was then sold for $40,000 to James Harron Bloodstock at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Broadwater Thoroughbreds (now Bhima).
