Monday, 13th March 2017

At Flemington in Victoria, Widden Stud's dual Gr1-winning sire Nicconi (Bianconi-Nicola Lass, by Scenic) added a Group success when 3YO colt Sircconi (Nicconi-On Credit, by Viking Ruler) valiantly held off all chasers to score by 0.1 length for trainer Peter Morgan in the $202,000 Gr2 Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) for 2YO’s, over fellow colts Aspect (Pluck-Innishbeg, by Lonhro)) & Feng Chu (Moshe-Divine Lady, by Skalato). Sircconi took his record to 1 win and 1 placing from 3 starts for $129,900 earnings. Pinhooked as a weanling for only $25,000 from the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale draft of Lyndhurst Stud, and subsequently sold for $80,000 from the draft of Bhima Thoroughbreds at the 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Sircconi is from the family of Gr1 Auckland Cup winner Irish Chance and NZ Horse of the Year The Phantom.
