Tavago Wins Gr3 Sky High Stakes

Monday, 13th March 2017

At Rosehill Gardens in Sydney, Cambridge Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Tavistock (Montjeu-Upstage, by Quest For Fame) added a group success when specked 4YO gelding Tavago (Tavistock-Sara Ann, by Stravinsky) scored by 3.3-lengths for trainers Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young in the $340,000 Gr3 Sky High Stakes 2000m, over highly favoured fellow 4YO gelding Antonio Giuseppe (Shocking-Crystalthecowgirl, by High Chaparral) & 5YO gelding Allergic (Street Cry-Cajou, by Encosta de Lago). The beneficiary of a strong medium race pace, died-in-the-wool stayer Tavago had not seen the winner's enclosure since landing last April's Gr1 Australian Derby at Royal Randwick. Tavago, who was a NZ$60,000 purchase at the 2014 NZB National Yearling Sales Series from the draft of Cambridge Stud, took his record to 4 wins (including the Gr3 Wellington Stakes) and 2 placings from 11 starts for $1,613,205 earnings.
