Top Filly Requires Vet Clearance
Meanwhile, star New Zealand filly La Bella Diosa will undergo a full veterinary inspection today to determine if she continues her autumn campaign in Sydney, reports theinformant.co.nz. Last year’s New Zealand 1000 Guineas winner made a successful Australian debut when resuming with a win in the Gr2 Surround Stakes, but inexplicably finished last (19th of 19 runners) in Saturday’s Gr1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill. Racing NSW stewards ordered a veterinary examination and made the observation that the 3YO was coughing as she cooled down. “There was nothing to suggest anything untoward, just a wee bit of mucous which would be nothing out of the ordinary,” co-trainer Mandy Brown yesterday. “We’ve got the vet coming again tomorrow when we’ll run some bloods and give her a lung wash as well as going right over her, which will hopefully cover all bases.” She added: “She’s very bright, she ate up well last night, so what was behind that run is still unexplained.”Brown said the plan is still to run La Bella Diosa in the Gr1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on Saturday week.
