OBS 2YO in Training Sale: $1.25M for Orb Colt
The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2017 March Sale of 2YOs in Training kicked off on Tuesday with a colt by Orb (Hip 127) topping the first session when knocked down to Solis/Litt for US$1.25 million. Consigned by Crupi’s New Castle Farm (as agent), the bay colt, who worked in 10 seconds flat last Thursday, is out of the Forest Wildcat mare Remember, a half-sister to Gr1 winner Dancing Forever. There were also three horses that fetched US$950,000 on day one; a son of Curlin ex Storm Heated (Hip 223), a Scat Daddy ex West Side Dancer colt, and a colt by Union Rags out of the stakes winner Alexandra Rylee (Hip 323). On day one, a total of 137 horses sold for US$26,320,500 compared with 169 bringing a total of US$26,418,500 last year. The average was US$192,120, up 23% from US$156,322 in 2016 and the median price was US$110,000, identical to last year’s figure. The buyback percentage was 34.1% compared to 24.9% in 2016.
