At Flemington in Melbourne, unbeaten European Champion juvenile & dual Gr1-winning Darley shuttler Teofilo (Galileo-Speirbhean, by Danehill) added a Group success when 4YO entire Palentino (Teofilo-Palatine Hill, by Palace Music) scored by 3.25 lengths for trainer Darren Weir in the $200,000 Gr2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) foe 3YO+, over 6YO Japanese-bred entire and stable-mate Tosen Stardom (Deep Impact-Admire Kirameki, by End Sweep) & 5YO UK-bred entire Harlem (Champs Elysees-Casual, by Nayef). The Sun Stud-owned Palentino, who was purchased by Darren Weir for $85,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale from the draft of Macleay Thoroughbred Stud, improved his record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes, Gr1 Australian Guineas & Listed Hilton Resorts & Hotels Stakes) and 3 placings (including the Gr2 MVRC Alister Clark Stakes) from 17 starts for $1,170,110 earnings.
