At Trentham racecourse in New Zealand, Brighthill Farm's Gr1-winning & dual Gr1-placed Australian-bred stallion Perfectly Ready (More Than Ready-Elle Duccio, by Danehill) added a black-type success when 5YO New Zealand-bred gelding Signify (Perfectly Ready-Pica Pica, by Stravinsky) scored by 1 length for trainer Alex Cowan in the $50,000 Listed Lightning Handicap (1200m) for 3YO+, over 8YO gelding Speech Craft (Oratorio-Chaleur, by Stravinsky) & 5YO mare Smashing (Pins-Ruud Van Slaats, by Van Nistelrooy). Signify, who cost just $5,500 at the 2013 NZ Bloodstock South Island Sale, improved his record to 9 wins (including the Gr1 Telegraph) and 9 placings (including the Gr3 CJC Stewards Handicap) from 33 starts for NZ$331,436 earnings.
