Purton Booked for Summer Passage

Thursday, 23rd March 2017

Hong Kong-based jockey Zac Purton has secured the ride on exciting Kiwi colt Summer Passage in Saturday week's $1 million Gr1 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick, reports theinformant.co.nz. The Hong Kong Jockey Club denied Purton clearance to ride Summer Passage when he won last week's Gr1 Sistema Stakes (1200m) at Ellerslie, with Sydney-based Blake Shinn taking the winning ride. "Blake rode a very good race to get him home at Ellerslie, but Summer Passage is owned in Hong Kong and for that reason Zac is the preferred rider," O'Sullivan explained. "We got word this morning that he has been cleared to come down to Sydney, so it's all worked out well." He added: "No doubt this will be another step up, however the horse has come through Ellerslie well and we see no reason why he shouldn't be allowed his chance."
