Star Turn Poised for Maiden Gr1 Success

Thursday, 23rd March 2017

Jockey Dwayne Dunn is confident that talented 3YO sprinter Star Turn (Star Witness-Golden Delicious, by Made of Gold) can finally break through at the elite level in tomorrow night’s Gr1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley. A winner of 4 of his 11 starts, including the Gr2 Schillaci Stakes and Gr3 San Domenico Stakes, Star Turn has been placed three times in top company, namely in the Coolmore Stud Stakes, Lightning Stakes, and Newmarket Handicap down the famous Flemington straight. Connections have indicated that the son of Star Witness is likely to be retired to stud if he secures that elusive Gr1 victory. “I think this is what he's looking for - he's looking for a corner and it should be ideal for him," Dunn said. "He's drawn a beautiful barrier (three) and he's going to push up on-speed.” He added: “He's always run into some pretty smart gallopers but hopefully on Friday night we can get the job done.”
