Anaheim to Fly Derby Flag for Stable

Friday, 24th March 2017

Despite the setback suffered by leading Australian Derby contender Rising Red, the Busuttin-Young yard still has a genuine chance in the form of Fastnet Rock colt Anaheim. Anaheim is set to make his next appearance in the $2 million classic after his fourth placing in the Rosehill Guineas. However, co-trainer Trent Busuttin warns he doesn't want the conditions to be too soft. "He's one who doesn't want a wet track," Busuttin said. "He tacked on the back of Gingernuts and was travelling super at the 600 metre mark in the Rosehill Guineas and Hugh Bowman thought he was probably on the winner." He added: "He said he went to go and his wheels were spinning and he just couldn't get traction in that ground."
