Promise Versus Proven In Vinery Stud Stakes

Friday, 24th March 2017

Tomorrow’s Gr1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) for 3YO fillies at Rosehill Gardens could come down to a case of untapped potential versus a proven commodity. Overcoming a seemingly hopeless task in the 1500m Phar Lap Stakes two weeks ago, Foxplay dazzled once finding clear galloping room, and only the question mark of tackling the additional 500m is keeping her from starting a shorter favourite than her current $3.40 quote. Harlow Gold, meanwhile, is already proven over a staying journey having finished runner-up in the Gr1 Crown Oaks (2500m), and she displayed her versatility earlier in the month when a close up fourth behind Hey Doc in the Gr1 Australian Guineas (1600m). Like Foxplay, La Bella Diosa is unknown at the journey but the Gr1 winner has the class to bounce back from last weekend’s poor Gr1 Coolmore run. Dawn Wall and Lubiton also come into calculations following top runs in the Kembla Grange Classic.
