Australian Bred Makes Stunning Debut

Monday, 27th March 2017

Handsomely bred colt Mustaaqeem lived up to his pedigree when making an eye-catching debut at Turffontein in South Africa on Saturday. The Mike de Kock-trained 2YO looked a star of the future when scoring an explosive 9 length victory in the Turffontein Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1160 metres. Mustaaqeem was bred in Australia by Arrowfield Stud who sold him for $1.75 million to Shadwell Stud Australasia at the 2016 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. By Arrowfield's multiple champion Australian sire Redoute's Choice, Mustaaqeem is the fourth foal to race from the three-time Gr1 winning South African mare National Colour (National Assembly). Mustaqeem is a full brother to recent Gr2 Hawaii Stakes winner Rafeef.
