Monday, 27th March 2017

At Moonee Valley in Melbourne on Friday night, Yarraman Park's Gr3-winning stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit-Cannarelle, by Canny Lad) added a Group success when the aptly named 3YO filly I Am A Star (I Am Invincible-Star Band, by Dixieland Band) scored by 3.25 lengths for trainer Shane Nichols in the $200,000 Gr2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) for 3YO+ fillies & mares, over 5YO mares French Emotion (Snitzel-Love and Emotion, by Woodman) & First Seal (Fastnet Rock-Episode, by Scenic). The well-bred I Am A Star, who became the first filly in history to win the Gr1 Myer Classic in 2016, advanced her record to 6 wins (including the Gr1 Myer Classic, Gr2 Kewney Stakes, Gr3 Quezette Stakes & Gr3 SAJC National Stakes) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 MRC Thousand Guineas, Gr2 Moonee Valley Fillies' Classic & Gr2 Rubiton Stakes) from 13 starts for $925,950 earnings. Originally purchased for NZ$12,000 at the 2014 NZB Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale, I Am A Star was subsequently sold for $40,000 to James Harron Bloodstock at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Broadwater Thoroughbreds (now Bhima).
