Jon Snow Wins Gr2 Tulloch Stakes

Monday, 27th March 2017

At Rosehill Gardens in Sydney, Haunui Farm shuttler Iffraaj (Zafonic-Pastorale, by Nureyev) added a Group success when 3YO New Zealand-bred colt Jon Snow (Iffraaj-Orinda, by O'Reilly) scored by 2.8 lengths for trainers Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman in the $200,000 Gr2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) for 3YO colts & geldings, over fellow 3YO colts Prized Icon (More Than Ready-Tropical Affair, by Danehill) & Captain Duffy (King Cugat-Miss Encosta, by Encosta de Lago). Jon Snow's dominant victory saw him firm into $6 with Tab for next weekend's $2 million Gr1 Australian Derby (2400m) at Royal Randwick. "He's been running on hard tracks so the slowness in the ground really helped him. All things being equal, he should back up," co-trainer Andrew Forsman said. "We'll have a talk to the owners. I'm sure they'll all want a trip over here so hopefully he comes through it well and we can have a crack at least."
