Silent Sedition Wins Gr1 William Reid Stakes

Monday, 27th March 2017

At Moonee Valley in Melbourne on Friday night, Yarradale Stud shuttler War Chant (War Chant (Danzig-Hollywood Wildcat, by Kris S) celebrated an elite success when 4YO mare Silent Sedition (War Chant-Fiorentina, by Dubai Destination) scored by 0.1 length for trainer Andrew Noblet in the $500,000 Gr1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) for 3YO+, over 4YO entire Hellbent (I Am Invincible-Volkaspray, by Volksraad) & 3YO colt Star Turn (Star Witness-Golden Delicious, by Made of Gold). This was a thoroughly deserved maiden top-flight victory for Silent Sedition who advanced her record to 6 wins (including the Gr3 Mannerism Stakes, Gr3 Summoned Stakes, Gr3 Schweppervescence Stakes & Listed Bendigo Guineas) and 9 placings (including the Gr1 Coolmore Classic & Gr1 Australasian Oaks) from 16 starts for $961,650 earnings. Silent Sedition, whose dam is a half-sister to Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso from the Gr1 Coolmore Classic winner Porto Roca, was purchased for the bargain price of $45,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the draft of Korilya Stud. Not only was this Silent Sedition's first Gr1 success, but it was also the first for trainer Andrew Noblet and jockey Katelyn Mallyon. "I can't believe this. I'm just so over the moon, you can't imagine how much I've wanted this," Mallyon told racing.com. "It's just so good to be a Group One winner. It's all I've ever wanted." "It's unbelievable," Noblet said. "To come here and do that after coming back from a mile and coming back from Sydney…she's just an unbelievable talent this mare."
