Moore Won't Rush Exciting Sprinter

Tuesday, 28th March 2017

Trainer John Moore says exciting Australian-bred 3YO Magic Legend (Red Element-Trail of Secrets, by Secret Savings) won't be thrown in against the top sprinters just yet despite maintaining his unbeaten Hong Kong record on Sunday, reports the South China Morning Post. Magic Legend, who raced as Hostwin Legend in Australia, improved his record to 5 from 8 after landing his third straight Hong Kong victory in a class two event at Sha Tin. Magic Legend is the only 3YO entered for the Gr1 Chairman's Sprint Prize on 7 May, but Moore said he is in no rush and will adopt a more cautious approach. "He won't be going to the Group One, we will look for other options and let him climb through the grades," Moore said. "He will stay in Class Two range after that and there is an 80-105 ratings band Class Two coming up on April 17. I like to let my horses progress without putting them in the deep end too early and that's what we will do with this fellow. He has a very bright future." Magic Legend is out of the Secret Savings mare Trail of Secrets, a half-sister to Gr1 Railway Stakes (NZ) winner Gold Trail.
