Rebel Dane to Stand at Swettenham Stud

Wednesday, 29th March 2017

Adam Sangster has announced that dual Gr1-winner Rebel Dane will stand at Swettenham Stud from the 2017 season. Trained by Golden Slipper winning trainer Gary Portelli, Rebel Dane (California Dane-Texarcana, by More Than Ready) has hitherto won 8 of his 38 starts, including the Gr1 MVRC Manikato Stakes (1200m) and Gr1 MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, for over $2.4 million prize money. He has also been placed nine times in Group One or Two company highlighting what an exceptional sprinter he is. However, Rebel Dane will continue his racing career over the coming weeks targeting a number of feature Group One races in Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide before the curtain comes down on a magnificent racing career. Adam Sangster commented: "The opportunity to access a dual Group One-winning sprinter is rare for Victorian breeders, especially the winner of one of our iconic sprint races; the Manikato Stakes." Sangster added: "We were keen to get the stallion for Swettenham Stud and Victoria and were delighted when the owners agreed. He will provide Victorian breeders the opportunity to access a sound, high-class sprinter bred on the successful Danehill x More Than Ready cross that will complement Swettenham's existing stallion roster and be ideal for SuperVOBIS." A service fee for the upcoming breeding season will be announced shortly.
