Rain Dampens Enthusiasm for Sydney Trip

Friday, 31st March 2017

Graeme Rogerson's hopes of a start at The Championships for promising 3YO colt Ferrando (Fast 'n' Famous-Rio Nugget, by Captain Rio) are fading, reports NZ Racing Desk. "I'm watching the weather and he's still in the Arrowfield Sprint [Gr2] on April 8, but I won't be running him on heavy ground in Sydney," he said. "He's more than likely to run on the 15th in a three-year-old race at Tauranga over 1200 metres and then he could go to Adelaide." The race Rogerson has in mind is the $1 million Gr1 Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville on May 20. Ferrando has won four of his seven starts, including the Gr3 Mongolian Khan Trophy at Ellerslie before he finished fourth in his first start over 1400 metres in the Gr2 Wellington Guineas.
