Tosen Doubtful for Doncaster

Friday, 31st March 2017

The connections of Tosen Stardom (Deep Impact-Admire Kirameki, by End Sweep) are likely to withdraw the Japanese-bred galloper from tomorrow's $3 million Gr1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick on account of his wide gate and the expected heavy surface, reports racing.com. "Gate 23; it just makes it too hard," said managing owner Jamie Lovett of Australian Bloodstock. "We're really keen to win a good race with this horse, we think a bit of him. We'd be happy to wait as opposed to being four, five-wide on a Heavy 10; I just don't think that's the best thing for the horse." Lovett said the son of superstar sire Deep Impact was likely to be saved for the Gr1 All Aged Stakes on 15 April before embarking on a winter carnival campaign in Brisbane.
