NZ Owned Eminent On Track For 2000 Guineas

Friday, 21st April 2017

Meanwhile, in another filip for the New Zealand industry, well-bred 3YO colt Eminent (Frankel-You'll Be Mine, by Kingmambo) stormed into calculations for England's Gr1 2000 Guineas, run next month, with an authorative display overnight in the Gr3 Craven Stakes (8 furlongs) at Newmarket. Owned by Pencarrow Stud principal Sir Peter Vela, who purchased the colt privately after he was passed in at the 2015 Tattersalls October Book-1 Sale, undefeated Eminent is out of Gr1-placed You'll Be Mine, herself a daughter of Gr1 Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Quarter Moon, also multiple Gr1-placed in the Gr1 Irish 1000 Guineas, Gr1 English Oaks and Gr1 Irish Oaks. Emiment's powerful finish has also sparked speculation that he may well head to the Gr1 English Derby following May 7's 2000 Guineas attempt where he is likely to clash with Ballydoyle's Gr1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Churchill. Runner-up to Eminent by 1.75-lengths in the Craven Stakes was Gr1 Racing Post Trophy winner Rivet (Fastnet Rock).
