Savvy Dreams Ready for Australian Debut

Friday, 21st April 2017

Highly promising Kiwi filly Savvy Dreams (Savabeel-Elusive Dreams, by Elusive City) is set to make her Australian debut in the Gr3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) at Morphettville tomorrow, reports NZ Racing Desk. Savvy Dreams is coming off a last-start third in the New Zealand Oaks behind star filly Bonneval, who has subsequently franked the form with a brilliant win in the Gr1 Australian Oaks two weeks ago. “Savvy Dreams lost a little bit of weight on the way over, but she’s put it back on and she’s the same weight now as when we left,” said Grant Cullen, who trains in partnership with Guy Lowry. “She’s settled in really well and taking a line through Bonneval we would be surprised if she’s not competitive over here.” Cullen added: “Obviously, she hasn’t raced since the New Zealand Oaks, but she’s raring to go and Paul Gatt, who rides her on Saturday, was aboard when she had a run along yesterday morning and he was extremely impressed with her.” Savvy Dream is being aimed at the Gr1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville on 6 May and the Gr3 SA Oaks (2500m) at the same venue on 20 May.
