First Foal for Vancouver

Wednesday, 2nd August 2017

AAP has reported that the first foal of Coolmore's Golden Slipper winning stallion Vancouver was born at Canning Downs on Sunday night. Described by Canning Downs stud manager Rob Petith as a "very good first foal", the colt is out of the well-bred mare Helford River, a daughter of Fastnet Rock and Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Headway (Charge Forward). Crowned Champion Australian 2YO in 2015, Vancouver (Medaglia d'Oro-Skates, by Danehill) was purchased by a syndicate headed by Coolmore Stud for a reported $40 million following Golden Slipper victory, making him the most expensive Slipper winner ever sold to stud. Vancouver will stand at Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $49,500.
