Frankel Foal for Former Star Kiwi Mare
NZ Racing Desk reports that Kevin Hickman's former star mare Silent Achiever gave birth to her second foal by champion Frankel in the UK on Monday night. "He's a strong, good-boned colt and just as impressive as his full-sister last year," said Jonathan Scully, manager of Hickman's Valachi Down's Stud. "We're all absolutely rapt and Silent Achiever loves being a Mum so that's great." Silent Achiever's first foal by the world's highest-ever rated racehorse, a filly, was born at Brook Stud in England in August last year. Trained by Roger James, Silent Achiever (O'Reilly-Winning Spree, by Zabeel) will be remembered as one of the best Kiwi mares of the modern era winning 10 of her 36 starts for over $3.1 million in prize money, highlighted by four Gr1 victories in the New Zealand Derby, New Zealand Stakes, Ranvet Stakes and The BMW.
