Summer Passage Pleases At Trials

Wednesday, 2nd August 2017

Top Kiwi colt Summer Passage (Snitzel-Subsequent, by Encosta de Lago) has pleased his stable with his effort at yesterday's Te Teko trials, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Lance O'Sullivan and Andrew Scott-trained 3YO finished midfield in his 1000m heat under champion apprentice Sam Weatherley. "Andrew and I were delighted," O'Sullivan said. "Sam rode him quietly in the hope that he would settle, which he did and it was a lovely trial." O'Sullivan added: "He'll be on the plane to Melbourne in the middle of the month and the idea is to trial him over there at the end of the month and then into the Danehill Stakes [Gr2]." The Gr2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) will be run at Flemington on 16 September. A winner of the Gr1 Sistema Stakes at Ellerslie in March, Summer Passage proved himself to be one of the best 2YOs in Australasia with a second placing behind Invader in the Gr1 Inglis Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) in Sydney in the autumn.
